You are cordially invited to BoricuActívatEd’s first workshop

Generously co-hosted by American University’s Social Enterprise Program

 -Students welcome

-WHY: Puerto Rico’s fiscal and economic crises, the devastation of Hurricane María, the slow and apathetic response from the federal government and the growing humanitarian crisis on the Island dramatically underscore the need for a “new engagement” between Puerto Ricans and Washington, D.C.  For this reason, BoricuActívatEd workshops are designed specifically for the Puerto Rican population in the United States and others who want to support the island in this critical time.

-WHAT: Understanding that an empowered community is a powerful asset, the workshop is designed to empower Puerto Ricans on the U.S. mainland to protect and advance their interests, as taxpayers and voters, before Congress. The workshop will consist of training sessions that provide participants with working knowledge and insider tactics they can use to craft and pursue public policy goals.

-WHO: The BoricuActívatEd workshops have been designed and guided by a team of accomplished former Congressional staff and professionals who have worked with policymakers and advocates—at all levels—to advance substantive policy agendas.

-WHEN: Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to noon EST.

-WHERE: American University, SIS Building, SIS Founders Room, lower (T) level of the SIS Building. 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016, Corner of Nebraska Ave and New Mexico Ave NW. Free parking in SIS Building garage.
