Judy Schneider has spent almost four decades at the Congressional Research Service, specializing in procedural rules to lawmakers, and many members of Congress believe they know how to legislate because of Schneider. She began her career on Capitol Hill in the Senate Ethics Committee.

In 2015, the organization Women in Government Relations (WGR) established the Judy Schneider Fellowship in gratitude and appreciation for her immense impact on the thousands of women she has mentored, developed, and trained through her Direct Connect to Congress education series since 1985.

The WGR considers her a “treasure trove of information and historical knowledge that ensures that every participant of her Direct Connect to Congress program leaves feeling confident and empowered to be successful in their legislative agendas.” This view is shared by most people who have worked closely with Schneider.

On July 13, 2018, she received from the Congressional Management Foundation the Staff Lifetime Achievement Award.
