Miguel Rios-Berrios was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. He is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, (UPRM) where he majored in Engineering (B.E) and Computer Engineering. Throughout his college education, Rios-Berrios has had various research positions in the College of Engineering at the UPRM, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2010, after three months of interning at Twitter, Rios-Berrios was officially hired as a Data Scientist at the San Francisco headquarters.

He became a Senior Data Scientist in 2011, and Senior Engineering Manager in 2017, specializing in data visualizations, and analyses using Twitter datasets. As a Senior Data Scientist, he’s developed and owned a number of Twitter’s in-house data visualization, reporting services and tools. On the other hand, as a Senior Engineering Manager, Rios-Berrios was part of Twitter’s Science and Analytics leadership by managing data visualization, metrics, and experimentation teams.

As the manager of Twitter’s consumer data science teams, he is responsible for supporting product development through product data science, measurement, and experimentation. After working for approximately nine years, he became the Head of Consumer Data Science at Twitter in April 2018.
